Aglaya Nogina was born in Luhansk in 1996 and lived in Kharkiv and Kyiv before moving to Düsseldorf after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She currently lives and studies at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts.

She works across graphic and expanded media, including printmaking, photography, text, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, performance, and spatial installation. Moving between techniques and forms, she develops the material language of each work through experimentation.

Her practice explores the relationship between personal experience and collective reality through questions of memory, self-identification, intimacy, and belonging. Experiences of migration and displacement form part of this inquiry, alongside broader questions of relationships, perception, and how we experience ourselves in relation to others and the world around us.
